Carol trained as an interior designer and worked as a journalist before becoming an antique dealer in l978, when she started with £50 and stalls at Camden Passage and Covent Garden markets. The business prospered and at one time Carol had two shops in Camden Passage: one selling pottery and glass and the other furniture and pictures.

The direction of the business changed when her daughter Sophie joined her. After university, Sophie spent some spare time helping a gilding restorer with no thoughts of staying or making this her career. Three years later she started dealing on her own behalf.

Carol and Sophie each have their own stock, but many items are jointly owned. THEIR POLICY IS TO SOURCE GOOD QUALITY ITEMS IN FINE CONDITION, WHICH REQUIRE NONE OR MINIMAL RESTORATION. MOST MIRRORS HAVE ORIGINAL PLATE.

After Carol left Camden Passage, she dealt only from fairs, but five years ago Sophie opened a highly successful shop at Antiquarius in the Kings Road, which incorporated Carol's stock. Sadly, Antiquarius closed for redevelopment and the showroom moved down the road to The Furniture Cave. This has now closed, as Sophie is permanently based near Paris and cannot be in attendance, but a new showroom has just been established in Islington open by appointment.

The showroom concentrates on displaying mirrors and furniture. Glassware will be available at fairs.

Carol has exhibited at every Olympia Fine Art and Antiques Fair for the past twenty four years, but is now leaving and, after an absence of several years, is returning to exhibit at The Decorative Fair in Battersea Park. The next fair is 28 September - 3 October 2010.
